A report from Spanish media outlet Sport this morning claimed that Liverpool have shown an interest in Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa, who will be out of contract at the end of the season and therefore available on a free transfer.

As noted by @AnfieldEdition on Twitter, the 27-year-old could be a cost-free alternative to Andrew Robertson at left-back, with no natural backup for the Scotland international in Jurgen Klopp’s current first team squad.

Kurzawa, a three-time Ligue 1 champion with PSG, has made only nine starts in the league this season but has the experience of more than 200 senior club matches under his belt and has played 23 times at Champions League level. He is very economical with his use of the ball, with a 90.6% passing success rate this term compared to Robertson’s 83.4%.

However, news of Liverpool’s reported interest in the France international prompted mixed reaction from some Reds fans on Twitter. One Kopite would rather see the club renewing their interest in 2019 target Junior Firpo of Barcelona or Augsburg’s Philipp Max:

Would Kurzawa be a good addition for Liverpool on a free transfer or do they need a stronger left-back alternative to Robertson? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
