Many Liverpool fans have expressed their happiness with a reported ‘World Cup-style’ proposal to complete the remainder of the current Premier League season.

As reported by The Independent‘s Miguel Delaney and shared on Twitter by @empireofthekop, the Premier League has devised plans for clubs to play matches in isolated camps in the Midlands and London in June and July in order to try and finish the season amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to The Independent, the idea has gained increasing traction in recent days, with the possibility of a TV ‘mega-event’ which would entail all 92 remaining fixtures being televised individually, even if the matches had to be played behind closed doors. Delaney added that the proposal is likely to meet with government approval for an idea which would enable football to be played safely in a lockdown environment.

Any proposal which would faciliate the completion of the 2019/20 Premier League should benefit Liverpool, who need only six more points to claim a first league title in 30 years and are 25 points clear at the top of the division. These Reds fans on Twitter certainly lent their support to the ‘World Cup-style’ proposal, with one Kopite “all in” for the idea”:
