A number of Liverpool fans took the opportunity to mock one of their main Premier League rivals after a tweet from The Telegraph reporter Chris Bascombe (@_ChrisBascombe).
The journalist noted that the postponement of tonight’s Manchester City v Arsenal league clash has increased the possibility of Liverpool being crowned Premier League champions at an empty Etihad Stadium on Sunday 5 April, should the Reds fail to claim maximum points from their two league games prior to then.

As it stands, Jurgen Klopp’s side could be crowned champions if they beat Everton on Monday night and Manchester City have lost to Burnley on Saturday. Even if Pep Guardiola’s side win that game, Liverpool could clinch the title the following weekend if they defeat Crystal Palace having already won the Merseyside derby.
A number of matches in European competitions, including games involving Chelsea, Manchester United and Wolves, are to be played behind closed doors due to fears over the further spread of coronavirus, the factor that has led to the postponement of tonight’s Premier League clash.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter joked that winning the league behind closed doors at the Etihad next month would not be wholly unusual, with Manchester City’s ground mockingly dubbed the “Emptyhad” by some rival supporters due to the rarity of sellout attendances (as per Give Me Sport):
Was that meant to be a joke? Isnt etihad always empty

Which makes calling off tonight’s game a joke as the emptyhad is never full.
