A number of Liverpool fans have voiced their displeasure at the possibility of their team being presented with the Premier League trophy behind closed doors and the planned celebratory parade being cancelled following an update from James Pearce (via @JamesPearceLFC).

He wrote in The Athletic that there is a “real threat” of the title being won and/or the trophy being presented without any fans present due to fears over a further spread of coronavirus, with the Reds poised to win the Premier League given their 25-point lead at this stage of the season.

Assuming Liverpool go on to claim their first league title in 30 years, Pearce also mooted the possibility of the trophy presentation being brought forward from the final home game of the season, against Chelsea on 10 May, to maximise the possibility of it taking place with supporters present, with Chronicle Live reporting that Premier League clubs are putting contingency plans in place for the possibility of matches being played behind closed doors.

According to Goal.com, a victory parade for the Reds’ impending title triumph would place on Monday 18 May, the day after the league season ends. However, this could be under threat if the British government decides to implement a blanket ban on mass gatherings, a topic that was tabled for debate at a meeting between the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and sport governing bodies on Monday (as per BBC).

These Liverpool fans aren’t happy at the prospect of potential celebrations being affected by coronavirus-related measures:
