Plenty of Liverpool fans on Twitter have called on the club to bring Daniel Sturridge back to Anfield after he today cancelled his contract with Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

The 30-year-old striker spent six-and-a-half years as a Reds player before leaving for Turkey last summer, scoring 68 times for the Merseysiders during his time at Anfield. As noted by Sky Sports, the former England international is now a free agent and is therefore able to sign for a new club outside of the transfer window.

Sturridge, who has 77 Premier League goals to his name, was especially prolific during the 2013/14 season with the Reds, scoring 22 times in the league as he formed a lethal partnership with Luis Suarez in a campaign that saw Liverpool narrowly miss out on the title. However, the ex-Chelsea striker had several lengthy spells out through injury during his Anfield days and he also incurred numerous injuries during his abortive spell with Trabzonspor (as per TransferMarkt).

Despite the forward now being in his 30s and having a chequered fitness record, these Liverpool fans on Twitter would love to have him back at Anfield now that he is available to sign:
