A number of Liverpool fans have said that they would like to see the club renew their interest in a player who was linked with a move to Anfield last year.

Spanish publication Sport yesterday reported that Barcelona are considering selling Junior Firpo for just €20m (around £18m) despite only signing him last summer, during which Sport claimed that Jurgen Klopp wanted to bring the defender to Liverpool. Consequently, Reds-focused Twitter channel @AnfieldEdition asked followers if they would like to see the club going back in for the 23-year-old.

Firpo plays predominantly at left-back, which would introduce some welcome competition for Andrew Robertson at Anfield, although he can also cover at centre-back, where Liverpool’s options could soon be diminished by the likely departure of Dejan Lovren. He has struggled to get into Barcelona’s line-up this season, making just nine La Liga starts, but showed his enterprising nature for Real Betis last term with three goals and four assists in 24 league games.

These Liverpool fans hope that the Reds go back in for the Spaniard, who one Kopite believes would be a “perfect signing” for the Premier League leaders:
