Liverpool would not consider a move for Harry Kane even after the England captain claimed that he could be open to leaving Tottenham in the future, according to a report in the Evening Standard [via Daily Star].
The 26-year-old recently said in an Instagram Q&A with Jamie Redknapp [via talkSPORT] that he would not stay at Spurs “just for the sake of it” if he felt that he could better progress his career elsewhere. However, as claimed by journalist David Lynch on Twitter (@LynchStandard) and in the Evening Standard, Liverpool are unlikely to spend huge money (Spurs value Kane at around £150m) on an injury-hit player who probably wouldn’t vastly improve their team.
Harry Kane is valued at around £150m, would probably negatively affect Salah and Mane's output, and seems to be paying the price for those persistent ankle injuries. If he does leave Tottenham, it's hard to imagine #LFC ever being in for him.https://t.co/21eM7xVHWQ

Kane, who antagonised some Reds fans at the weekend by calling for the current season to be scrapped if it cannot be resumed by the end of June and notoriously claimed a dubious goal against Stoke in 2018, has scored 11 Premier League goals in 2019/20, his lowest tally for six years and fewer than Liverpool pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, albeit more than centre-forward Roberto Firmino.
Many Liverpool fans on Twitter made it clear that they do not want the club to move for the 26-year-old, who one Kopite derided as “Balotelli 2.0“, a reference to the Italy striker who managed just one league goal in an atrocious 2014/15 campaign after arriving for £16m (as per BBC):
If we sign him, he’s gonna be Balotelli 2.0

Wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole. Self centred, selfish. Won’t press. Slows the play down. Doesn’t suit Liverpool’s style at all.

Not a nice person and a narcissist, would be perfect for the mancs.

I dont like him as he isnt a team player. He just wants the ball all the time when there are better options. Last year he moved from mid to front just so he could try and win golden boot.

Liverpool don’t need Kane full stop.
