A report from Spanish media outlet Diario Madridista claiming that Liverpool have identified Real Madrid’s Vinicius as a transfer target has sparked a mixture of opinion among some Reds supporters.

According to Diario Madridista [via Daily Express], Jurgen Klopp has placed the 19-year-old winger at the top of his wish list for the summer transfer window and has promised him regular first team football at Anfield, following an unsuccessful pursuit of the Brazilian last year. The story was subsequently shared by @AnfieldEdition on Twitter.

As noted by Mikael McKenzie in the Daily Express, Liverpool are in the market for a wide attacker as both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could miss a large part of next season due to the Africa Cup of Nations. However, Diario Madridista stated that the youngster does not want to leave Real Madrid, nor are the La Liga club willing to sell him, with the teenager scoring in the El Clasico win over Barcelona at the start of this month.

Vinicius has made 28 appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side this season but many of those have been as a substitute, while he has managed only four goals and three assists in 1,363 minutes of game-time (as per TransferMarkt). By way of comparison, Liverpool striker Divock Origi has scored five times in 1,239 minutes on the pitch in the current campaign despite rarely starting.

These Reds fans on Twitter had mixed views on the Real Madrid teenager, with some hoping he will come to Anfield and others believing that he is “overrated” and lacks an effective end product:
