The performance of Takumi Minamino in last night’s FA Cup clash provoked a polarised array of opinions among a number of Liverpool fans in response to a question posed by @AnfieldEdition on Twitter about the 25-year-old.

Playing as a centre-forward, the Japan international didn’t manage a shot over the entirety of the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea and completed just one of his attempted three dribbles, although he did manage to win four of his duels and also had one successful tackle. [via SofaScore]

Minamino, whose three starts since his January arrival at Anfield have all come in the FA Cup, drew measured responses from reporters covering the game at Stamford Bridge. Henry Jackson of This Is Anfield felt that he “looked like a player who is slowly finding his feet in a Reds shirt” while Liverpool Echo writer Ian Doyle said that he looked “lively in the early stages” but “faded somewhat” in the second half. The Mirror‘s Andy Dunn was less complimentary, opining that he is “still adjusting to the pace of this sort of frantic contest”.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter were divided in their views of the 25-year-old after his display against Chelsea:
