Plenty of Liverpool fans have applauded FIFA’s decision to extend the 2019/20 club season indefinitely amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
The Athletic‘s Simon Hughes reported that each of FIFA’s member nations will be granted the right to choose when and how their league seasons will finish, as well as altering the dates of the summer transfer window and allowing contract extensions for players whose current deals expire at the end of June. He shared a link to the report on his Twitter profile @Simon_Hughes__.

Prior to the proliferation of COVID-19 throughout the UK, and indeed worldwide, Liverpool had accumulated a 25-point lead in the Premier League and had been on course to win a first league title since 1990. However, with football currently on hold indefinitely and disruption to the 2020/21 season inevitable, many parties had called for this season to be declared null and void, including West Ham co-chairperson Karren Brady, TV personality Piers Morgan, current Premier League players Harry Kane, Luke Shaw and Kevin De Bruyne, and ex-England internationals Tony Adams, Joe Cole and Rio Ferdinand.
However, FIFA’s decision to extend the season indefinitely should give Liverpool the requisite leeway to win the title on the pitch and has been met with firm approval from these Reds fans on Twitter:
Fine with this ?

Finally common sense prevails.

Karren Brady, Piers Morgan, Richard Keys, Andy Gray, Rio Ferdinand, Sam Allardyce, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, Matt Le Tissier, Luke Shaw, your void took one hell of a beating.

Had to be the case. How can you void a season not knowing if you can actually start the new one . . and what would be the point ??
— Michele (@360red_) April 6, 2020
And the rival fans will think FIFA have an agenda against them. FIFApool!!! ??

Good, correct move.
There are no grounds to prioritise a completely new season over one that’s 75% completed.
Public health comes first, but once it’s safe to do so, the current season should be completed. Anything else undermines the integrity of the league.

The correct decision, what all football fans should of always wanted, conveniently it was always the fans of clubs that dislike liverpool the most that wanted it completely cancelled.

Common sense really
What’s the point in starting any new season before you’ve finished the last one?
For integrity purposes, if a season needs to change (less games, higher frequency etc) it has to be a future one, so that all teams know the ‘rules’ before it starts.
