Plenty of Liverpool fans on Twitter enjoyed a tongue-in-cheek remark from Trent Alexander-Arnold on Twitter (via @trentaa98) this afternoon.

The 21-year-old retweeted a notification from BT Sport informing followers that the Reds’ epic 4-0 Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona will be shown in full on BT Sport 2 tonight from 8pm, with the comment that “I’ve heard the second half is worth a watch” accompanied by a wink-face emoji.

Liverpool came into the second leg of the semi-final trailing 3-0 to the La Liga side and, despite an early Divock Origi goal, were only 1-0 to the good at half-time at Anfield. However, two quickfire goals from Georginio Wijnaldum levelled the tie before the hour mark and the game’s defining moment came in the 79th minute.

As Liverpool prepared for a corner which Alexander-Arnold was lining up to take, he feigned to leave the ball before suddenly whipping it into the penalty area for Origi to score past a stunned Barcelona side and send the Reds to the Champions League final, in which they beat Tottenham to claim their sixth European Cup.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter naturally lapped up the defender’s humorous quip about that extraordinary night at Anfield:
