Plenty of Liverpool fans sent birthday greetings to young Anfield prospect Neco Williams, who turns 19 today and had the occasion marked by a post from the club’s official Twitter channel @LFC.

The precocious right-back has emerged from the academy to make five first team appearances this season, setting up a timely assist for Divock Origi on his debut in the thrilling 5-5 Carabao Cup draw against Arsenal in October. He also claimed assists in both of the Reds’ FA Cup clashes against Shrewsbury during the winter.

If Williams can establish a prolonged place in Liverpool’s first team squad in the near future, he stands to emulate team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold, the 21-year-old right-back who came from the club’s academy to break into the senior side and nail down a regular slot in Jurgen Klopp’s team, with 125 appearances to his name already despite his tender years. Like the England international, Williams is developing a flair for bursting forward from defence and contributing to goals, with three assists after just five senior games for the Reds.

These Liverpool fans took to Twitter to salute the Welsh teenager on his 19th birthday, with one Kopite glowingly referring to him as “Trent v2”:

Do you think Williams can establish himself at Liverpool in the same manner that Alexander-Arnold has done? Share your views in the comments section below!
