Plenty of Liverpool fans have been left unimpressed with reports of a possible departure from Anfield this summer and Jurgen Klopp’s alleged reasoning for being happy to sanction the sale.

According to The Mirror, the Reds manager is willing to part company with Xherdan Shaqiri if any club can match Liverpool’s £25m valuation of the player, with the German intending to open the door for Rhian Brewster to obtain more regular first team opportunities. That news was later shared on Twitter by @AnfieldEdition.

Shaqiri is likely to depart Anfield in the summer, as reported by the Liverpool Echo, and has made only two Premier League starts all season, getting a paltry 256 minutes of game-time across all competitions in 2019/20. Meanwhile, 20-year-old striker Brewster made his senior Reds debut last September and played in two further games before being loaned out to Swansea since January, where he has scored four goals in 11 Championship games.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter weren’t pleased to hear of Klopp’s reported intentions, with some supporters feeling that Brewster isn’t yet ready for regular action at Anfield and that Shaqiri would be unfairly jettisoned:

Liverpool fans, do you think Klopp would be mistaken to let Shaqiri go in order to increase the possibility of Brewster playing first team minutes for the Reds? Join in the discussion by commenting below!
