A number of Liverpool fans have welcomed a transfer report linking Chelsea winger Willian with a possible move to Anfield in the summer.

The 31-year-old’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in June and a report in this morning’s print edition of Sport [via Sport Witness] claimed that he is currently in negotiations about a potential switch to Anfield. According to Sport, those talks relate to ‘very favourable conditions’, perhaps an indication that the Brazilian could land a lucrative contract at Anfield as he will soon be a free agent. The story was subsequently shared on Twitter by @AnfieldEdition.

Willian, who had been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool in 2013 (as per The Telegraph) before ultimately joining Chelsea, has scored seven goals and set up another six in 37 games this season, with a neatly symmetrical record of 59 goals and 59 assists in 329 matches in toal for the Blues. He has scored three times in 13 appearances against the Reds in his career.

These Liverpool fans on Twitter are hopeful that the Anfield club can land him on a free transfer, with one Kopite drawing comparisons with James Milner’s Bosman arrival as a 29-year-old in 2015 and another calling on sporting director Michael Edwards to “get him signed“:

Liverpool fans, would you like to see Willian being signed on a free transfer this summer? Comment below with your views!
