Plenty of Liverpool fans have called for Jurgen Klopp to add an attacking midfielder to the Reds’ squad in the summer transfer window in response to a question posed by @LFCTransferRoom on Twitter asking followers which positions they would like to see strengthened.
While Liverpool currently enjoy a mammoth 25-point lead in the Premier League, only their first choice attacking trio have hit double figures in terms of goals this season, while their leading assists provider is right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, hence the calls for greater creativity in midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is the Reds’ current highest scorer from midfield with seven goals, two ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum (as per TransferMarkt).

Liverpool have not had a hugely effective attacking midfield influence since the departure of Philippe Coutinho in January 2018. The Brazilian, a scorer of 54 goals in 201 games in his time at Anfield, had been been linked with a possible return to Anfield by Spanish media outlet Sport [via Daily Express] in early March, but The Mirror‘s David Maddock subsequently reported that the Reds have “zero interest” in signing him for a second time.
These Liverpool fans on Twitter all want the attacking midfield area to be addressed in the summer, with one Kopite calling for “a Kevin De Bruyne-like player” in the mould of the Manchester City ace who has nine goals and 20 assists to his name this season:
