It’s been reported that Liverpool transfer target, Borussia Dortmund ace Jude Bellingham, will not be sold this summer.

The Lowdown: Previous connections

The 18-year-old, whose current contract with the Bundesliga outfit doesn’t expire until 2025, has previously been linked with a move to Merseyside, but the Reds have been faced with competition from Manchester United who are also said to be keen on a move.

However, following a new update, it seems that the £67.5m-rated talent will now be staying put in Germany for at least another season, which will come as bad news for his potential suitors.

The Latest: Not for sale

Football Insider have claimed that both of the Premier League giants have ‘enquired’ about the 12-time international, but have been told by a recruitment source that Dortmund have ‘no intention’ of selling Bellingham, especially considering the fact that Erling Haaland might be on his way out ahead of a possible move to Manchester City.

The Verdict: Huge blow for Klopp

The news that the midfielder won’t be let go during the upcoming window will come as a huge blow to Jurgen Klopp, not only because of the lack of true spending in recent windows, but also as a result of his ageing midfield options.

The likes of captain Jordan Henderson, Thiago, and James Milner are all over 30, and with a track record as outstanding as the £49k-per-week prospect, having made 19 goal contributions alone in all competitions so far this campaign, it’s no wonder that the German manager has highlighted him as someone who he’d want to add to his squad.

Once described as an “incredible talent” by his former Birmingham manager Pep Clotet, Bellingham won’t be putting pen to paper on a deal at Anfield anytime soon, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see them go back in for him next summer.

If Liverpool do manage to achieve the unprecedented quadruple and get their hands on plenty of silverware come the end of May, then the Stourbridge-born man might just have his head turned, if long-term success at the highest level is something that he wants to accomplish in the near future.
