Liverpool are tracking Chicago Fire and Colombia international Jhon Duran, who has attracted a lot of attention with his goalscoring performances in Major League Soccer.
What’s the word?
That is according to a report from the Metro, who state that the 18-year-old’s debut season has seen him become a hot prospect, having conjured up 11 goal contributions in the form of eight goals and three assists across 26 appearances.
As per the same report, it is said that Chelsea are also aware of the Colombian’s talents and are considering a move, amidst further interest from clubs in Spain and Germany, respectively.
Duran’s asking price is said to be around £10m, plus add-ons, with the star expected to be surrounded by options when it comes to choosing his next club.
Klopp will love him
With “three braces this season”, as pointed out by the admins of the Chicago Fire account on Twitter, Duran is a player that Jurgen Klopp will love.
It says a lot that he is sat above ex-Liverpool player Xherdan Shaqiri when it comes to the goalscoring charts, though this is due to yet another one of his key attributes; his ability to stay proactive throughout the game, having averaged 4.0 shots per 90 this season.
He is still a raw prospect and there are certainly efficiencies that can be added to his game, having missed nine big chances this season.
But this could well be another Colombian gem that thrives under Klopp in the same way that Luis Diaz has.
Duran would offer some brilliant cover for the likes of Darwin Nunez, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota and could reach that next level if he was to seal a switch to Anfield.
The Reds will need to monitor this one, with Chelsea also looming.
