Liverpool could reportedly see a bid of £100m for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz accepted this summer, should the Reds be willing to offer that amount.

Jurgen Klopp’s midfield rebuild has been a big success story so far this season, with the decision to sell players and bring in new faces paying off handsomely.

While Liverpool have a plethora of strong options in the middle of the park, there is still a chance that Klopp could look for further additions in that area of the pitch at the end of the current campaign.

Luiz is one player who has been backed to make a move to Anfield in recent times, and according to Football Insider, a huge bid of £100m could be enough to get their man:

“Aston Villa will demand a fee of around £100million for star man Douglas Luiz in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider. Football Insider revealed on Monday (15 January) that Liverpool are admirers of Luiz, 25, with La Liga giants Barcelona also ready to join the race for his signature.

“Arsenal are also long-term admirers of the Brazil international and previously saw more than two bids rejected for him in 2022’s summer window.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Luiz this summer…

Luiz is enjoying a superb season for Villa, playing a key role in them threatening to even challenge for the Premier League table, forging a great partnership with Boubacar Kamara in midfield.

The 25-year-old has averaged 2.1 tackles per game in the league, but his quality in the final third has also stood out, with six goals and three assists coming his way.

Granted, Liverpool have lots of strong options in their midfield already, as mentioned, but Thiago is out of contract this summer and is unlikely to sign an extension at Anfield, and Luiz is someone who could thrive so much in Klopp’s system.

The price tag that Villa are reportedly demanding is admittedly huge, and there will be lots of competition for the Brazilian’s signature once the summer transfer window opens, but given his age and all-round quality, he could be worth every penny.
