Liverpool are interested in signing Luis Guilherme in the summer transfer window, with the youngster dubbed the “next Kylian Mbappe”, such is his potential as a player.

The future of Kylian Mbappe continues to rumble on, and while the Reds have been linked with an audacious move for him in the past, it does feel as though he is on his way to Real Madrid.

A big-money move to Spain looks set to happen at the end of this season, and while Liverpool won’t be signing him, their new manager after Jurgen Klopp will be eyeing other additions to the squad.

According to a report from Football Insider, the Reds are keen on signing Guilherme from Palmeiras, with the 18-year-old someone who could have a massive future in the game:

“Liverpool have made the ‘next Kylian Mbappe’ – Palmeiras teenage sensation Luis Guilherme – a top target ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider. The Reds considered a formal January move for the 18-year-old but eventually decided against firming up their interest.

“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Liverpool are now plotting a summer swoop for Guilherme. Sources say the Merseysiders consider him a ‘top target’ ahead of the off-season.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Guilherme this summer…

While Guilherme may not be a household name yet, or someone who would arrive at Liverpool and be a key player from the off, he could still be such an eye-catching acquisition this summer.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, the Brazilian is capable of playing out wide as well, and to have already racked up 32 appearances for Palmeiras says a lot about his maturity as a player.

He is also a five-time capped Brazil Under-20 international, netting twice in four appearances for his country’s Under-17s, too, and he should be viewed as a long-term purchase who could mature into something special.

The fact that Guilherme has even been compared to Mbappe says a lot about his potential, considering the Frenchman is arguably the standout player of his generation – a hat-trick in the 2022 World Cup final speaks for itself – so Liverpool should do all they can to bring him before the start of next season.
