According to TEAMTALK, Liverpool have now offered Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso a contract to replace Jurgen Klopp this summer.

The Reds are on a mission to give Jurgen Klopp the send-off he deserves this summer, with the supporters and the squad coming together to create atmospheres and performances that are putting the club on track to have one of their most successful campaigns yet.

The feeling on the red side of Merseyside is jubilant after the Carabao Cup victory at Wembley Stadium over the weekend, however, the feeling will be bittersweet as every game that passes is one less left with the incredible German coach leading.

Liverpool are still in contention to win the Europa League, are currently at the top of the Premier League table, and last night, progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup with a fierce fixture against Manchester United ahead of them.

While Klopp focuses on squeezing out the very last sprinkles of magic he has to offer the club before he departs, the club’s board and owners have been focusing on life beyond their current legend and will surely be putting a lot of consideration into who will be the worthy successor.

Today, a report from TEAMtalk claimed that after making initial contact and having positive conversations, Liverpool has offered Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso a three-year contract until the summer of 2027.

The publication has claimed to ‘exclusively’ reveal that the Liverpool board are keen to get the next chapter at Anfield set in stone by securing the signature of their number one target ahead of Klopp’s exit.

Will Xabi Alonso leave Bayer Leverkusen?

There is no doubt that Liverpool fans would welcome the appointment of Alonso with open arms, as he is a man who has a strong understanding of the club’s culture since he is a former player.

That strong connection to the club, combined with his incredible managerial form so far with Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, make him the perfect candidate for the huge job on Merseyside.

The Spaniard who tallied up 210 appearances for Liverpool is one of the most talked about managers in Europe at present for the outstanding job he is doing in Germany, where he is unbeaten this season and on course to win the Bundesliga title if he can keep up the winning form.

However, Alonso is a man in demand and it has been heavily speculated that Bayern Munich are also interested in appointing the young coach to replace Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.

With that being said, it remains to be seen if the contract offer is accurate but both Liverpool and Bayern Munich will be worth watching closely as it could become a close battle between the two clubs to secure their man.
