Liverpool are “particularly” interested in signing Juventus winger Federico Chiesa in the summer transfer window, according to journalist Fabio Santini.

The Reds will once again bring in new signings at the end of the season, and while major surgery isn’t needed within the squad, fresh blood and competition for places are always a positive.

Joel Matip and Thiago are expected to leave Anfield when their respective contracts expire this summer, so centre-back and central midfield could be areas to focus on making changes to.

It looks as though another attacker is also not out of the question, however, with quotes from Santini relayed by Paisley Gates and TV Play claiming Liverpool are showing strong interest in making a move for Chiesa, even tabling an offer for him:

“What does Juventus do? They might sell Chiesa and not Vlahovic as is being rumoured. There are offers on Chiesa from the Premier League bigwigs, particularly Liverpool.

“By selling Chiesa they bring home around €40-45m (£34.3m-38.5m), with that amount Juventus can go and knock on Retegui’s door, who should not be seen here as a duplicate of Vlahovic, but if anything as his sidekick. Here too, Juventus will have to do, as they say in Milan, the servant’s accounts.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Chiesa…

Chiesa has been linked with a move to Liverpool so often in recent times, so at this point it is does appear as though they see him as a genuine target come at the end of the campaign.

The 26-year-old is a top-quality attacking player who can provide both powerful running, unpredictability and end product, and his ability to shine in central and wide roles is a level of versatility that could be so handy for the Reds’ next manager.

This season, Chiesa has scored seven goals in 18 Serie A starts, while a total of 86 goal contributions in 226 appearances in the competition highlights his prowess and consistency in the final third, with 45 goals and 41 assists coming his way.

The Italy international is out of contract at Juve next year, which could force the Turin giants to sell him this summer before losing him on a free, so Liverpool should try and snap him up for a cut-price amount.
