Liverpool will be handed a double fitness boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield this weekend, with both Darwin Nunez and Ibrahima Konate set to be available for selection.

The Reds will return to action this weekend in the Premier League and there is a very tight title race set to resume as Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal battle it out to be top dog over the final ten league fixtures ahead.

Jurgen Klopp and his men will host Roberto De Zerbi’s squad at Anfield as Brighton pay a visit to Merseyside on Easter Sunday, and nothing short of three points will be enough to get out in front of their competitors for the title.

There is a real opportunity to be had should Arsenal and Man City share the spoils of their meeting at the Etihad this weekend or a chance to extend a gap over the defeated party going into the final stretch.

The Liverpool boss will want to end his Liverpool tenure with a bang and will be hoping that his squad will be in the same mindset as adding another trophy to the collection this season would be an absolute fairytale climax to a very successful tenure.

There have been many obstacles put out to stumble over for the Carabao Cup winners along the way so far this season, and an extensive injury crisis has not helped in the slightest.

Despite being without first-team heroes for the past few weeks, Klopp has been speaking his pre-match press conference to deliver a double fitness boost ahead of Brighton with fan favourites in contention to start after being sidelined:

“Curtis is in training. Ibou was extra rest day, nothing else. Robbo we will take it day by day. He won’t train today but it’s not as bad. That’s fine.”

“The other boys from next week on step by step they will join parts of team training.”

“We will see what we do with that. They aren’t too far away. They are all making their steps. It’s a positive. Darwin did his rehab during the week, trained first day partially and since then in full training.”

Will Ibrahima Konate start vs Brighton?

There is no doubt that Klopp will want his best defensive set-up lined up to handle Brighton’s relentless attacking threat, so it would come as no surprise if Konate is instantly reinstated in his centre-back partnership alongside club captain Virgil van Dijk.

Not only that, there will be an urgency to get ahead in front of the home support at Anfield on Sunday, so the return of Nunez will be a great boost for bringing some energy and unpredictability to the final third in the hope that an early lead can be taken.

With that being said, the return of two experienced first team talents, Nunez and Konate, will be highly valuable not only against Brighton but in the midweek fixture against Sheffield United, where nothing short of three points will be acceptable.
