Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has confirmed that he is happy at Liverpool after being linked with a move to Real Madrid, as per ESPN Argentina.
The Reds have been left reeling following the departure of Jurgen Klopp this week and although the future is looking bright after a much-improved campaign this season, there will definitely be a feeling of uncertainty in the fanbase.
The summer transfer window is almost upon us and as well as a new manager at Anfield, Liverpool will brace themselves for departures from the squad which includes Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip, as well as the potential of fresh faces being brought in to kick off the Arne Slot era.
One of the most important priorities for the Merseyside giants this summer is to retain the experience and talent they already have in the squad, and get the current players believing in and motivated to start this new chapter with a new boss.
Recently it had been reported that Spanish powerhouse and Liverpool’s Champions League rivals Real Madrid were interested in snapping up the services of midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, as they look to replace Toni Kroos after the German announced he would retire from football after the Euros.
Now the World Cup winner has spoken out about his future at Liverpool as ESPN Argentina approached the elephant in the room in an interview when he joined up with his national team for Copa America, and Liverpool supporters will be relieved by his response to the media outlet:
“I don’t talk about assumptions,” the 25-year-old answered. “I’m very happy at Liverpool.”
Will Alexis Mac Allister stay at Liverpool?
There is no doubt that Liverpool supporters will have been worried about the links to Real Madrid, as it wouldn’t be the first time an outstanding talent has been lost to the hands of a giant Spanish club.
It is also rumoured that Mac Allister may have an undisclosed release clause in his contract that he signed just last summer, but this is purely speculation at this time, and would be an extremely rare find in the contract of a Liverpool player.
There is little debate that the Argentina international was the signing of the season for the Reds and his huge influence and potential in the centre of the pitch looks like it is only being scratched at the surface so far.
As per FBref, the Liverpool talisman ranks in the top 15% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for assists, shot-creating actions, passes attempted, progressive passes, tackles and blocks per 90 – a testament to his attacking approaching and work rate.
Not only that, over 33 Premier League appearances, Mac Allister scored five goals, registered five assists and created three big chances, as well as averaging 1.4 key passes, 74.2 touches, three tackles, 5.9 ball recoveries and 5.9 duels won per game, displaying his huge presence in attacking opportunities and providing defensive consistency too.
With that being said, it doesn’t look like fans have anything to worry about in the immediate future and will be hopeful that Mac Allister is focused on his future at Liverpool.
