Real Madrid are showing “concrete” interest in signing Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold, according to journalist Christian Falk.
The 25-year-old has been an incredible player for the Reds since busting onto the scene under Jurgen Klopp, making his debut back in 2016.
Since then, Trent Alexander-Arnold has matured into one of the most exciting attacking full-backs of his generation, producing technical quality that few players in history in his position have managed.
He has also won all is there is to win at club level, aside from the Europa League, cementing his status as one of the greatest right-backs to have represented Liverpool.
Given Alexander-Arnold’s reputation as a world-class footballer, it is perhaps only natural that he could be eyed up by a fellow huge club this summer, and it looks as though that is the case.
Taking to X on Tuesday, Falk claimed that Madrid are genuinely interested in completing the signing of the Englishman ahead of next season, with the player himself keen on joining:
“Real Madrid is getting concrete with Trent Alexander-Arnold (25). Arnold has contract til 2025, no contract extension at Liverpool yet. The Player is interested, there is contact since month.”
Our thoughts on Alexander-Arnold’s Liverpool future…
The thought of Alexander-Arnold leaving for Real Madrid this summer doesn’t even bear thinking about for Liverpool supporters, given his talent and influence at Anfield.
At 25, the Reds’ vice-captain is coming right into the best years of his career, and to lose him at this point would be incredibly tough to stomach, including for new manager Arne Slot.
It is easy to see why Alexander-Arnold’s head may have been turned by Madrid’s interest, given their remarkable success in the Champions League, and it is no shock that they see him as a great option to replace the ageing Dani Carvajal.
The hope is that loyalty shines through, however, and that the boyhood Liverpool fan realises his future lies at Anfield, especially as he will surely be made captain once Virgil van Dijk has gone.
It is a nervy time, though, and should Alexander-Arnold depart in the coming weeks, replacing him at right-back would be almost impossible.
