Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has made a significant claim regarding the future of Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah, shedding light on the situation.

The Reds have been magnificent so far this season, winning all three of their Premier League matches and not yet conceding a goal, with Arne Slot impressing greatly.

Despite this, there is concern regarding the futures of Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, all of whom are out of contract at the end of the current campaign.

The trio remain vital players for Liverpool, but with none yet extending their stays, there is an increasing worry that at least one of them may not be at Anfield this time next year.

Speaking on The Debrief [via Anfield Central], Romano claimed that Salah wants to remain at Anfield, with it down to the Reds to reach an agreement with him:

“Arne Slot is very happy with him and they want to keep him at the club, so at the moment it all depends on the talks taking place between Mo and Liverpool in the next few months.

“The situation for Mo is quite clear. He would be really happy to continue at Liverpool; I can confirm that. I think it is a crucial part of the story.

“Mo would like to stay at the club. Mo is very happy at Liverpool. Mo believes that his future could still be in the Premier League in a Liverpool shirt, so the message from the player’s side is clear. It now depends on if they can reach an agreement on the financial terms.”

Our thoughts on Romano’s update on Salah…

Hearing that Salah intends to stay at Liverpool is a massive boost for anyone of a Reds persuasion, considering he looks as good as ever, following three goals and assists apiece in his opening trio of appearances this season.

The key now is for FSG to sanction an extension for the 32-year-old, changing their stance when it comes to giving players in their 30s long-term deals.

Salah keeps himself in incredible shape and has suffered few injuries in his career, so there is no reason why he can’t remain at an extremely high level until he is close to 40.
