Liverpool are believed to be interested in completing the signing of a player who is related to a Premier League ace currently shining for the Reds’ rivals.
After a disappointingly quiet summer transfer window, Liverpool supporters are hungry to see more players arrive at Anfield in the upcoming transfer windows.
Only Federico Chiesa and Giorgi Mamardashvili were added to Arne Slot’s squad in the month leading up to the new season, with the latter not even at the club in 2024/25, instead staying on loan at Valencia to keep enjoying regular playing time.
While Slot still has a fantastic group of players at his disposal – one capable of battling across four different competitions – they have been linked with acquiring the services of a new addition.
According to a fresh claim from TEAMtalk, Liverpool are interested in signing Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, who is the brother of Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber.
The report says that the Reds’ “desire to sign a new midfielder has been well documented”, having missed out on Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi during the summer, and Timber has emerged as a strong option to bring in.
The Dutchman is a player who Slot already knows well, having worked together at Feyenoord, with Liverpool’s head coach a “huge fan”, not least because of “his ability to play in a variety of roles across midfield”.
Our thoughts on Liverpool’s interest in Timber…
Timber could be just what the Reds are after, whether that be in January or next summer, with another midfielder required after the disappointment surrounding their failed pursuit of Zubimendi.
This season, he has scored twice in four starts in the Eredivisie, averaging 2.6 shots per game but also 1.4 tackles, showing that he can be effective out of possession, too.
Timber’s versatility will surely appeal to Slot, who already has the likes of Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch showing that they are capable of shining in deep-lying midfield roles, but also as No8s.
At 23, the Feyenoord ace is still a young and maturing footballer, too, so Liverpool would be bringing in someone whose best years are still ahead of him, as he looks to mature into something special.
