Liverpool could make a move for a “superb” Premier League player who Manchester United have also shown an interest in, according to a new transfer claim.

The Reds know the importance of bringing in fresh blood, especially with the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah up in the air.

One player who will need to be replaced at some point in the coming years is Andy Robertson, with the 30-year-old not getting any younger, also having many miles in the tank after seven gruelling seasons under Jurgen Klopp.

That’s not to say that the Scot needs to be sold any time soon, but a successor needs to be found who can gradually take his place in Liverpool’s strongest starting lineup.

According to Football Insider‘s Pete O’Rourke, Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is being “monitored” by several Premier League clubs, one of which is Liverpool.

The report does state that “any potential signing does not mean that Andy Robertson’s future is under question as he’s not someone the club wants to lose”, however, because “he’s a key figure in the dressing room.”

Kerkez is on the “radar” of United, too, so there is going to be clear competition for the 20-year-old’s signature.

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Kerkez…

The young Hungarian looks like such an exciting left-back with a big future in the game, already making 40 appearances for Bournemouth and proving to be a consistent performer.

Kerkez has averaged 2.3 clearances per game in the Premier League this season, starting all eight of his side’s matches in the competition, including Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to Arsenal.

Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has described the Hungary international as “superb”, and given his age, he would be considered a long-term option for Liverpool, coming in and learning from Robertson and finding new gears as a player.

The Reds surely have appeal than United at the moment, given their league position and the fact that they feel a more settled club from top to bottom, and Arne Slot may view him as a vital part of his plans moving forward, with Kostas Tsimikas unlikely to become first-choice.
