Liverpool are “monitoring” the situation of an “extremely important” player who has started this season on fire, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The Reds now have six outstanding options in attack, with Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota the first-choice starting trio for Arne Slot, but Cody Gakpo, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez acting as strong backups.

Despite this, it looks as though Liverpool are still eyeing another new signing in that area, with Plettenberg claiming on X that Eintracht Frankfurt star Omar Marmsouh is wanted by them:

“Omar Marmoush is on the list of FC Liverpool. The Reds are closely monitoring his situation. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt want to extend his contract early by one year until 2028. Without a release clause. The top priority for SGE is to keep the 25-year-old top striker in the winter. 9 goals and 6 assists in all competitions yet.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Marmoush…

Marmouth is in a stunning vein of form so far this season, not only standing out as one of the Bundesliga’s top players but arguably proving to be one of the most devastating attackers in any of Europe’s top leagues.

The 25-year-old has already racked up 12 goal contributions (eight goals and four assists) in six league appearances in 2024/25, including netting a dramatic late equaliser against Bayern Munich last weekend.

His current manager, Dino Toppmoller, heaped praise on him earlier this year, saying: “Marmoush is extremely important because he brings a positive energy. Not only on the pitch, but also in the dressing room there was a completely different life this week. He brings the music box with him, he has good energy, is a good guy & gives us a lot.”

Still only 25, Marmoush’s best years are likely to be ahead of him, and the fact that he is capable of shining as a centre forward, attacking midfield or left winger makes him such a great versatile option for Slot.

The Egyptian’s numbers this season speak for themselves, and the idea of Liverpool snapping him up in January or next summer is a mouthwatering prospect, although hopefully not at the expense of another attacker, most notably Mohamed Salah.
