Liverpool are believed to be in talks with an “outstanding” player who has enjoyed a superb start to the season, according to a fresh transfer report.

The Reds know that they are going to have to replace Mohamed Salah one day, with the 32-year-old now in the final year of his current deal.

The hope is that he will extend his stay at Anfield beyond this season, but given his age, it is important that a plan is in place to find a successor at some point in the near future.

According to a new update from Sky Germany, Liverpool are in talks with Frankfurt star Marmoush over a move, with the Egyptian keen on joining up with his compatriot Salah on Merseyside.

A January transfer isn’t thought to be on the cards, however, considering Frankfurt are demanding £50m for the attacker’s services, and the player is hesitant to sign a new deal at his current club.

Our thoughts on this latest Marmoush to Liverpool rumour…

Marmoush jumps out as a stunning option for Liverpool, considering what a superb season he is enjoying to date, arguably even standing out as the Bundesliga’s most in-form player.

The 25-year-old has scored nine goals and registered four assists in seven league appearances to date, also finding the net once in the Europa League. His current manager, Dino Toppmoller, has heaped praise on him, saying:

“He’s responsible for producing danger up front, firing in goals and setting up others. He’s very difficult to defend due to his pace and how fast he can run in deep.

“He can also sneak in from close range, take a great touch and play some great passes. He’s in outstanding form at the moment, and he’s feeling comfortable.”

At 25, Marmoush is seven years younger than Salah, meaning he would represent a long-term successor to him, although he does predominantly play more as a central attacking player currently, as well as being able to do a job on the left wing.

It may be that Liverpool will have to wait until next summer to complete a move for the Egypt international, but assuming he keeps up his current form, he could be a sensational addition to Arne Slot’s squad.
