One huge Liverpool player has reportedly told friends that he intends to stay put at Anfield, amid concerns over his future at the club.
One of the biggest topics of conversation at Liverpool currently surrounds the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
It is common knowledge that the trio are all out of contract at the end of this season, with none agreeing to an extension with the Reds yet.
According to a significant new update from Football Insider, Van Dijk has informed friends that he intends to remain a Liverpool player for the foreseeable future.
It says that the Dutchman is “keen to remain at Liverpool despite the uncertainty over his contract situation in a huge boost to a potential breakthrough in talks”, adding that “positive talks” are “expected to take place between all parties.”
Our thoughts on this latest Van Dijk update…
It goes without saying that this is a significant breakthrough regarding Van Dijk’s Liverpool future, with the captain still as good as ever, standing out as arguably the greatest centre-back on the planet.
The 33-year-old has started this season in sensational form, averaging 5.6 clearances and 4.3 aerial duel wins per game in the Premier League. He has been a monstrous figure for so long now, with Jurgen Klopp saying of him back in 2019 after winning the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award:
“I’m so happy for him; I’m happy for us as well because he knows that without the boys around him, he cannot win that prize. It’s a prize for all of us – but we send our big man there to get it.
