Liverpool are among a number of clubs interested in signing an impressive Premier League player who assisted twice last weekend, according to former scout Mick Brown.

The Reds should focus on various important positions in January and next summer, including centre-back and potentially a new No.6.

Another area of the pitch where an addition is needed soon is left-back, with Andy Robertson not quite looking like the force he used to be.

Now 30, the Scot has over seven years of intense running in his legs, and while retaining him as a squad player still makes perfect sense, and may no longer be a guaranteed starter.

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown claimed that Liverpool are one of the clubs keeping tabs on Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez:

“Clubs are definitely interested in him. Chelsea were interested in him last season and that hasn’t gone away, and I’ve heard Liverpool have been keeping an eye on his development too.

“He’s been important to the way Bournemouth have played and has been really impressive. So it doesn’t come as any surprise that some of the top clubs are having a look at him.

“But Bournemouth won’t be quite so keen to see him leave. He’ll come at a premium because of that, and there also seems to be a shortage of top-class left-backs in the game so that ups his price again.

“But that interest is genuine and he’s one I’ve heard has attracted a lot of admirers. Whether a deal can be reached in January, I’m not sure, but Bournemouth won’t want to lose him mid-way through a season when he’s so important to them.”

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Kerkez…

Kerkez could be a perfect long-term replacement for Robertson and an upgrade on Kostas Tsimikas for that matter, and at 21 years of age, he is still an extremely young player.

The Hungarian is already shining in the Premier League on a weekly basis, proving to be a consistent performer for a good Cherries, even getting two assists in his side’s memorable 2-1 win at home to Manchester City last weekend.

Kerkez should be viewed as a primary left-back option come the end of the season, but it is clear that competition for his signature is going to be fierce.
