Liverpool legend Alisson “might want to go” and enjoy a new challenge away from Anfield next summer, according to former Reds hero Jan Molby.

There is so much focus on numerous Liverpool players and their respective futures, not least Trent Alexander-Arnold, amid rumours of him joining Real Madrid in 2025.

Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also haven’t signed new deals yet, while there has been contract talk surrounding the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and Luis Diaz, too.

Speaking to Anfield Index [via Caught Offside], Liverpool legend Molby suggested that Alisson could leave at the end of the season, potentially along with Caoimhin Kelleher:

“Mamardashvili is obviously on loan at Valencia and they clearly thought that he was value for money and now was the time. Alisson Becker has never actually said anything but you just get the feeling that he might want to go and try something else.

“We haven’t signed him (Mamardashvili) for him not to be our first choice eventually. Kelleher will know that once Alisson is back from injury, he will be back on the bench.

“I still think Chelsea and Spurs need to improve their goalkeepers, and it would be hard for both Liverpool and Kelleher to turn some of those opportunities down. I think there’s every chance that our first and second choice goalkeepers will be going.”

Our thoughts on Alisson leaving Liverpool in 2025…

It remains to be seen what Alisson’s decision is in the coming months, but there has been nothing to suggest that he is anything other than happy at Liverpool currently.

The 32-year-old remains one of the first names on Arne Slot when he is fit, which will hopefully be the case again soon, and his current deal doesn’t expire until the summer of 2027.

The fact that Giorgi Mamardashvili has joined from Valencia does suggest that Liverpool are eventually planning for life without Alisson, but that doesn’t mean there is going to be a huge change between the sticks next summer.

It feels more likely that Kelleher will move on to pastures new at that point, with Mamardashvili coming in after his season-long spell at Valencia, with a decision being made with Alisson in 2026 when he has one more year remaining on his deal.
