Liverpool have been given an injury boost regarding Trent Alexander-Arnold, with the potential date of the Reds’ vice captain revealed in an update by journalist Paul Joyce.

Arne Slot’s side got the better of Aston Villa on Saturday evening, in what was another great weekend for them, finishing it five points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-0 victory.

It was a night generally full of positives, but one negative was seeing Alexander-Arnold leave the field early, being replaced by Conor Bradley in the first half.

The fact that the 26-year-old was forced to come off suggested that he may have suffered a serious injury that was going to keep him sidelined for a sustained period, with Alisson and Diogo Jota already high-profile absentees.

Thankfully, it looks as though that won’t be the case, with Joyce taking to X on Monday to claim that Alexander-Arnold could be back for the trip to Southampton on November 24, following the outcome of a hamstring scan:

“Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be sidelined for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury. Avoided more serious damage by coming off early against Aston Villa. Not ruled out of Southampton on Nov 24 ahead of Real Madrid [Nov 27] and Man City [Dec 1] games.”

Our thoughts on Trent’s positive injury update…

Liverpool fans will be breathing a huge sigh of relief at this news, with injuries to key players having the potential to derail a season, as Jurgen Klopp found out a few times during his time as manager.

It does look like Alexander-Arnold will be pushing for a return away to Southampton, however, and if not that game, the mouthwatering Champions League clash with Real Madrid at Anfield on November 27th.

That is a match that could see Liverpool’s world-class right-back receive so much attention, given the links surrounding a potential move to the European champions next summer.

Slot must be careful not to rush Alexander-Arnold back, however, and fortunately, the Reds now have an excellent backup option in Bradley, who has consistently proven himself since bursting onto the scene last season, doing a solid job after coming on against Villa.
