Liverpool are monitoring Napoli’s highly-rated winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia ahead of a potential move for him, according to a new transfer rumour
Arne Slot has a plethora of excellent attacking options, with Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota all doing their bit so far this season.
It’s also easy to forget that Federico Chiesa arrived from Juventus during the summer transfer window, with the Italian still waiting to have a meaningful impact.
Despite this, it looks as though Liverpool could look to bring in another attacking ace soon, especially with doubts still surrounding the future of Salah at Anfield.
According to Give Me Sport, Kvaratskhelia is “a player who Liverpool are continuing to monitor”, adding that “it is plausible he could end up moving to the club in 2025.”
A move in the January transfer window is seen as “unlikely”, so it looks as though the Georgian superstar will be a summer target instead.
Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Kvaratskhelia…
Kvaratskhelia is one of Europe’s most exciting wingers, proving to be a talisman for Napoli so often in recent years, not least inspiring them to Serie A title glory back in 2022/23.
The 23-year-old scored 12 goals and registered 10 assists that year, and has 30 and 29 in total for the Italian giants respectively, and Liverpool know about his quality after he assisted against them in a 4-1 win in 2022/23.
Meanwhile, former Leeds United defender Jonathan Woodgate has lauded him, saying: “I’m disappointed Kvaratskhelia’s gone off, because I was enjoying his performance. His pace, his power, he wants to beat his man. He’s another one who you can see going to the Premier League in the next few years. He’s been absolutely magnificent, Kvaratskhelia.”
Kvaratskhelia is mainly a left winger, however, so it is hard to see him being a tailor-made successor to Salah on the opposite flank, should the Egyptian depart in 2025.
For that reason, it would only really make sense for Liverpool to sign him unless Diaz or Gakpo leave at the end of the campaign, and the money could be spent in different areas of the pitch.
There is no doubt that Kvaratskhelia is a world-class player on his day, so the idea of him in a Reds shirt is exciting, but it is a move that doesn’t seem too feasible, especially given how much he would cost.
