Liverpool have a realistic opportunity of signing Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson in the January transfer window, a new report has claimed.
The Reds may well decide to bring in a new left-back in 2025, following an up-and-down season for Andy Robertson to date.
While the 30-year-old has enjoyed some good performances, mistakes have started to creep in and he was sent-off in the 2-2 draw at home to Fulham earlier this month.
Robinson has emerged as one of the standout options to come in and provide more competition for Robertson, along with Bournemouth ace Milos Kerkez.
Now, a new update from Football Insider says that a January move to Liverpool is a “realistic possibility” for Robinson, who has shone up against Mohamed Salah over the years.
The Reds are still “keeping tabs” on the American and a “big” move is far from out of the question next month, with the defender wanting a switch to a big club at some point in 2025.
Our thoughts on this latest Robinson to Liverpool update…
Robinson ticks plenty of boxes when it comes to what Liverpool are looking for at left-back, with the USA international an impressive performer at both ends of the pitch.
In the aforementioned draw at Anfield earlier in the campaign, the 27-year-old registered assists for both of his side’s goals, but he has also averaged 3.2 clearances and 2.8 tackles per game in the Premier League in 2024/25 to date. Meanwhile, Fulham manager Marco Silva has lauded him, saying:
“Even when I arrived at Fulham four seasons ago, the way he has improved off the ball has been exceptional. If you create the right areas for him, he is going to be decisive going forward. Going up and down is not easy for any winger to follow him the way he plays, but also he has improved in his defensive set-up. He’s open-minded to learn and is a player who is always ready for us because he’s a great athlete.”
Robinson does turn 28 next year, however, which may be nagging away at the likes of Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, due to his peak potentially passing in the not-to0-distant future.
For that reason, Kerkez could represent the more sensible option of the two, considering he is seven years the Fulham hero’s junior.
