Liverpool are interested in completing the signing of highly-rated Brighton striker Joao Pedro in 2025, according to a fresh transfer claim.

The Reds are stocked with elite quality throughout their squad, but there is arguably a need to find a long-term solution at the centre of their attack.

Diogo Jota remains an injury-prone figure who cannot seem to stay fit for long periods, not featuring for Liverpool since going off at home to Chelsea back in October.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunez is still flattering to deceive at Anfield, not improving much as a player since arriving from Benfica in the summer of 2022.

Now, it looks as though Liverpool may be looking to address the situation, with UOL journalist Bruno Andrade claiming that Brighton star Pedro is a target for the Merseysiders.

In fact, the 23-year-old is considered a priority option for the Reds, with negotiations potentially starting in January, prior to him sealing a move next summer.

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Joao Pedro…

This is an update that will likely delight many Liverpool supporters, with Pedro looking like a striker with a huge amount of promise, already performing so impressively for Brighton.

The Brazilian has scored four goals in seven Premier League starts this season, also registering three assists, and his all-round game has stood out. He is admired by Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer, too, with the Match of the Day pundit saying of him:

“This for me is a brilliant centre-forward goal. The way he follows it up and he is expecting the rebound to get there. He reacts before anyone else does and then he gets his reward. His hold-up play was superb at times when he had to keep hold of the ball and bring his team-mates into play.”

Given the aforementioned issues surrounding Jota and Nunez, a new striker does have to be seen as a priority area for Liverpool to focus on in the summer of 2025, and Pedro ticks so many boxes.

He is young, talented, prolific in front of goal and already experienced in the Premier League, and he could be the Reds’ next great leader of the line.

Interest in him is sure to be huge, and Brighton will be desperate to keep hold of such a big player, but the lure of Liverpool will hopefully be too great for him to ignore.
