Liverpool know they will have to pay at least £40m to complete the signing of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez in 2025, according to a new transfer update.

The 21-year-old has arguably stood out as one of the best players in his position in the Premier League this season, providing both defensive nous and attacking quality from left-back.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Kerkez, with the Hungarian considered a potential long-term replacement for Andy Robertson, who is now 30 years of age.

According to Football Insider, the Reds now know their price for Kerkez, with Bournemouth demanding at least £40m for one of their most prized assets.

He is described as a “top target” for Liverpool, with Chelsea also believed to be tracking him, in what could be a big-money auction for his signature.

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Kerkez…

It does appear as though Kerkez is a genuine left-back option for Liverpool at this point, perhaps alongside Fulham’s Antonee Robinson, who did such an impressive job up against Bukayo Saka in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal.

The young full-back has one goal and two assists in the league this season, also averaging 2.3 clearances per game, and Mat Ryan has lauded his quality, saying:

“Milos is a great boy. A crazy dude, in a good way. He is always positive and smiling. Hopefully he can develop even further in England and become even more mature. He is aggressive, powerful and has so many qualities. A unique skill set. Bournemouth is going to get stronger because of him. Milos still has a great career ahead of him.”

Kerkez is six years younger than Robinson, which arguably makes him the better option, allowing him to be a long-term option whose peak years may still not arrive for a while, providing competition for Robertson to begin with and potentially usurping him over time.

The fact that the Hungary international is already an experienced player in the Premier League means he shouldn’t find it hard to adjust to life at Liverpool, even though the jump up in size of the club from Fulham to the Reds is clearly great.
