Three Championship clubs are among the teams “interested” in signing Liverpool striker Jayden Danns on loan during the January transfer window, according to an update from journalist James Pearce.
The 19-year-old is one of the most exciting young players at Anfield currently, possessing so much ability and also a natural self-confidence.
Earlier this month, Danns scored his first goal of the season after returning from a lengthy injury absence, coming off the bench to find the net in the 4-0 win at home to Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup third round.
The teenager is understandably going to struggle for minutes between now and May, however, with so many more experienced attacking players ahead of him in Arne Slot’s pecking order at Liverpool.
According to Pearce on X, a trio of Championship sides are eyeing a move for Danns in the January window, looking to snap him up for the remainder of the campaign:
“Stoke City, Blackburn and Preston among a host of Championship clubs interested in signing Jayden Danns on loan until the end of the season. James McConnell also attracting loan interest from the Championship.”
Our thoughts on Danns heading out on loan…
It makes total sense for Liverpool to sanction a loan move for Danns this month, even though there are concerns about Diogo Jota’s fitness, following his latest injury absence.
Allowing him to head out on loan would aid his development, giving him the chance to test himself regularly up against older defenders, improving his all-round game.
Hopefully, Danns can then return to Liverpool a more rounded player, with Marc Albrighton heaping praise on him after his aforementioned goal against Accrington earlier this month:
“Jayden Danns loves a goal and getting in those positions. That was brilliant from start to finish. He expected the rebound and he finished it well first time. You can see how much it means to him – a great moment for the young lad.”
Should Liverpool decide to keep hold of Danns, it certainly wouldn’t be a bad thing, and he can still play a role as a squad player at different points in the coming months.
