Priority Liverpool target Florian Wirtz has reportedly been looking at houses on Merseyside as the Reds push for a record-breaking signing this summer.
Fresh off a Premier League title triumph, Liverpool appear to be acting with authority in the transfer market as they aim to defend their title next season.
The Reds have already wrapped up a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold when he leaves to join Real Madrid for free.
And now, they’re hard at work to complete what would be a club record transfer for Wirtz. The figure being thrown around in the press is that it will cost around £126million to buy him from Bayer Leverkusen before his personal remuneration is taken into consideration.
If successful, Wirtz could be considered the first true superstar signing Liverpool have made under FSG. Thiago Alcantara is really the only other candidate although Alisson and van Dijk were at that level before they joined the club even though they weren’t considered world class outside of the Liverpool circle at the time.
This season, Wirtz has 16 goals and 15 assists – an incredible return for a 21-year-old attacking midfielder. Last season, he got 18 goals and 20 assists!
Reports now claiming that Florian Wirtz has been looking for houses in England
According to German outlet BILD, Bayern are still the favourites to sign Wirtz but he has now taken a significant step towards choosing Liverpool as his next destination.
They report that Wirtz and his family have “looked at the area, looked at houses” because Liverpool are “giving it their all” to complete a move to bring him to Anfield.
With Leverkusen demanding £126m to sell the midfielder, Liverpool are reportedly getting “really serious” and the report goes so far as to say the Reds are willing to “pay anything” to land his signature.
Fabrizio Romano has corroborated the claims of serious interest, saying that Wirtz has been “quite open to listening.”
