On Sunday, Chelsea beat Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the Club World Cup final but will turn their attention back to transfers now they have earned a nice chunk of change,

FIFA has been pouring cash into the Club World Cup for some time now but it is most evident in how they have remunerated the clubs that took part in this summer’s tournament in the United States.

Chelsea earned £62.7m from prize money on top of the £21.3 participation fee they were paid simply to attend and take part in the new format of the CWC.

Now equipped to make further signings, Chelsea still need to free up some squad space and the media has linked 27-year-old Christopher Nkunku with a move to Anfield.

Liverpool are monitoring Christopher Nkunku bargain deal worth £35m

According to French outlet L’Equipe, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Christopher Nkunku and Chelsea would reportedly sell him for around £35m. That’s a bargain for a player like Nkunku but it’s not the type of bargain Liverpool need right now.

Liverpool are most in need of a striker and having already signed Florian Wirtz, there isn’t any space Nkunku to float between the lines as he likes to either.

While it’s an affordable deal – not including his reported £195,000 per week wages – he is not who Liverpool will be looking for in the attacking department this summer.

What does Arne Slot want in attack?

Back in February,Arne Slot spoke a little about what he wants from his striker but also how it’s important that the team is scoring goals – not necessarily just one player.

When asked by reporters about whether he wants his No. 9s to score more goals, as well as be facilitators, Slot explained his demands.

When Slot was asked about whether he wants a goalscoring outlet or “facilitator” at the top of the pitch, the Dutch coach replied:“‘Facilitator’, nice word, I didn’t know that one yet, and scoring goals himself – that is, again, what we want to achieve in the end.

“In the end you want attackers and midfielders to score, we’ve spoken about our attacking midfielder as well.

“We need to get goals from many positions, including them and including centre-backs that can score from set-pieces also.

“So, that’s what I just said, we are trying to work on the training ground and with the feedback we give them after the game to make team better and better and better and in the end, the No. 9 should be a facilitator, like a winger, but a winger and a No. 9 should also score goals.”
