Liverpool’s new record signing Alexander Isak has revealed his “biggest motivation” in a Reds shirt after sealing his move to Anfield.

The Swede has joined the Premier League champions in a stunning £125m switch from Newcastle United, beating the amount paid for Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.

It is a huge statement by Liverpool, adding one of the best strikers in the world to their squad, with Isak having the potential to be the next truly great striker at Anfield.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after completing his move to the Reds, the 25-year-old said his “biggest motivation” is to inspire Arne Slot’s side to more trophy success.

“I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is,” Isak said.

“The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history. I want to win trophies.

“That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.

Isak also couldn’t hide his delight at getting to play at Anfield on a regular basis after securing his sensational transfer, saying:

“It’s so exciting. I think it’s something difficult to put into words, I think you have to experience it and then explain. I think we all know what Liverpool is about, the fans and what they’re about as well. So, yeah, looking forward to getting to experience that.”

Liverpool have signed a potential future legend

The significance of Liverpool signing Isak is difficult to downplay, considering just what a special talent he is, scoring 62 goals in 109 appearances, outlining his goalscoring prowess.

The Sweden international can become a legend for the Reds, assuming he avoids serious injury, and he can also help Hugo Ekitike mature into a more complete player alongside him, too.

Isak may take a little time to get going at Liverpool, given his lack of football of late, but once he is fully up to speed, he will possess the quality in front of goal to inspire Slot’s men to back-to-back Premier League titles.
