Alexis Mac Allister is an injury concern for Liverpool, but national side Argentina have revealed the severity of his latest issue by hinting at his upcoming playing time.

The 25-year-old was forced off at half-time in the Reds’ 1-0 victory away to Crystal Palace in the Premier League last Saturday, with Arne Slot not wanting to make his issue worse than it was.

Despite this, Mac Allister is still in South America representing Argentina, as he continues to shine as a key man at international level, having won both the World Cup and Copa America in recent years.

According to El Destape [via This Is Anfield], Lionel Scaloni will be “without” Mac Allister for the clash with Venezuela on Thursday “due to a muscle strain in his left thigh.”

Alan Shearer saying of him last season: “What a signing he has been, he is having a great season. He was absolutely sensational [against Brighton] playing slightly higher up the pitch. Those three points that they got, I know Salah got the goal but a lot of it was down to him.”

It would be negligent of Argentina to take too big a gamble on Mac Allister, so here’s hoping common sense prevails over anything else, and that he only plays if he is deemed fully fit.
