Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that the club are already looking at summer transfers, with notable reinforcements expected to come in.

The Reds have been relatively quiet in recent transfer windows, not making any new signings in January, as well as only bringing in Federico Chiesa last summer, also agreeing a deal for Giorgo Mamardashvili ahead of a 2025 move.

While Liverpool are top of the Premier League currently, it is also clear that fresh faces are needed at the end of the season, in order to provide Slot with a freshness in his squad.

Speaking to the media [via This Is Anfield], the Liverpool boss said that signings will be made in the summer window, pointing out the need for additions.

“We are looking at every single position and we are looking at the team,” Slot said.

“And I think we’ve said this many times last season, or last summer, we didn’t do a lot [in the summer window] because we – Richard, me and all the other people involved – just wanted to know how these players were working with me, the different manager.

“Now we have a very good idea about that, and I think it’s clear to you that I’m not going to tell you which positions we prefer.

“But it is clear that we’ve assessed the squad, we’ve assessed what we think where we can improve, and that’s where we try to go for in the summer.”

No excuses for Liverpool not to spend big

FSG have come in for plenty of criticism for a perceived lack of spending down the years, some of which has felt warranted, with Jurgen Klopp arguably not always backed enough in the transfer market.

Given the lack of recent activity, however, there is no excuse not to make lots of funds available this summer, especially if current players such as Darwin Nunz are sold.

Defensive reinforcements are required, especially left-back, with Andy Robertson not the player he was, but additional depth at centre-back is also required.

Meanwhile, new faces could be needed in attack, should Nunez and others move on, but hopefully, Mohamed Salah signs a new deal.
