Arne Slot has hinted that his job is not in danger with comments referencing that he has the support of FSG on his side.

There is a tidal way of criticism washing over the Dutch coach, with many calling for Slot to be relieved of his role as Liverpool manager.

Liverpool lost 1-0 to Galatasaray for the second time this season, suggesting little progress has been made since the first defeat in September.

The pressure is certainly increasing, but Slot may be under less pressure from within the club than many would believe.

Arne Slot comments suggest his job as manager is not in danger

While Slot is hardly going to come out to press hinting that he will be fired at the end of the season, his comments, and the recent Reds Roundtable with sporting director Richard Hughes and Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan, suggest there is not as much pressure on his job as some would have you believe.

Speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League clash with Spurs at Anfield, the Dutch coach made some interesting comments, referencing the continued support of Liverpool owners FSG (Fenway Sports Group).

“This might sound weird if I say only positive [things], because this season has not been only positive,” said Slot.

“The support I have always felt – not talking about social media I don’t follow that much – but the support I have felt from the home crowd, away crowd, people inside the building, the ownership.

“What we have done here together to achieve the things we have achieved, is in my head and memory only very special.

“We are struggling now, that is also very obvious. This is probably the nicest club to struggle [with].

“This club has always shown in different periods, everyone is there for you. You try even harder.

“It is a fantastic club to work because of the facilities, people, fans, it is not all negative when we don’t have the performances we want.

“It is still a great place to be. Even better if you win the league! Even in a season like this, it is still a privilege.”

Should Liverpool replace Slot at the end of the season?

That’s the question, isn’t it?

The Liverpool fanbase, at least based on social media, believes Slot is not the man to lead the club forward. Whether or not it’s the majority of fans that believe this or not, it’s clear that the 47-year-old has done a poor job this season.

The manager has cited a host of reasons for the Champions’ decline in 2025-26, but it’s undeniable that Liverpool are identity-less, rudderless and, frankly, boring to watch.

The Reds that we now watch are a departure from what we grew accustomed to under Jurgen Klopp. The German was never going to be perfectly replaced, but despite winning the title in his first season, Slot has struggled to make good on the owners’ £460m investment into the squad over the summer.

Champions League qualification may be the only way Slot earns himself another year, but in my opinion, that’s a terribly low bar to aim for.
