Liverpool recently waded into the Rodrygo transfer saga but Arsenal seem set to take the first serious step to signing him.
The 2025 summer transfer window will go down in history for Liverpool fans even without any additional signings.
The club blew the minds of supporters with their £100m move to sign Florian Wirtz, demolishing the club record fee paid to sign Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
Much like Virgil, there is a feeling among fans and even neutrals that the German playmaker will be one of the best Premier League players for years to come. It’s a landmark signing and more than signals the club’s intent.
Arne Slot has also taken care of his fullback problems by signing Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.
Liverpool further signalled their intent for the season ahead with their £120m proposal to Newcastle United to sign Alexander Isak and while the Magpies have impressed in their steadfast resolve to keep the Swede, the Reds have moved on swiftly.
Even before receiving the verdict from Newcastle, the Merseysiders had agreed a six-year contract with Hugo Ekitike and are now locked in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt.

Liverpool have been rumoured to have serious interest in Rodrygo but it appears as though they will miss out on signing the Brazilian to Arsenal as things stand.
Arsenal considering £69m bid for Rodrygo and if they act fast, they can beat Liverpool
Liverpool are preoccupied with Ekitike and while the Reds are famous for being fast and efficient with transfer negotiatiosn but it does leave a window for Arsenal to make their move.
While a recent report suggested that Arsenal are done with transfer spend for the summer, a new claim makes it seem as though the Gunners will spend big again to sign Rodrygo.
According to Caught Offside, Arsenal are “ready to try an opening offer of €80m (£69m) for the transfer of Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes, who is also wanted by Liverpool and other top European clubs.”

The player is “increasingly likely” to leave Madrid this summer. It’s reported that starting every FIFA Club World Cup game on the bench is a major factor in his thinking.
Rodrygo is one of the best players in the world – he got 14 goals and 11 assists last season – and playing every minute is a non-negotiable for players of his calibre.
Arsenal and Liverpool are interested but they’re not alone. Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and PSG are all paying close attention to his situation.
