Liverpool remain interested in signing Lamine Camara, and AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scuro has made some interesting comments about the midfielder’s transfer future.
Chelsea came within minutes of signing Camara, who was actually undergoing a medical when Monaco officials interrupted proceedings, bringing a halt to a €55m move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have every right to be upset about the manner in which things transpired, as a deal had been struck with Monaco for the midfielder, who was supposed to be the replacement for Enzo Fernandez, given his £125m move to Manchester City.
Liverpool have reportedly told Camara that they will return for him in January or next summer, and Scuro appears to have referenced this in his Monaco press conference today.
Nizaar Kinsella reports the details of the press conference, quoting Scuro as saying that the collapse of Camara’s transfer was directly linked to Folarin Balogun’s cancelled move to Everton.
Camara apparently asked to leave Monaco, but Scuro has since spoken to the 22-year-old and promised him that he would secure a major transfer “very soon” and may “even better options than he did yesterday.”
Camara will now return to action for Monaco will likely be difficult to mentally wrap his head around given the excitement and then disappointment of the transfer to Chelsea, but is reportedly fully committed.

Why did Liverpool not pursue Camara if they are going to sign him in January?
I don’t have the answer to this question. I’m also wondering.
In fact, I have a lot of questions about the last few months at Liverpool. Namely, why was Richard Hughes allowed to handle Al Hilal transfer talks while in charge of Liverpool’s transfers? It seems to me that every question I have can be traced back to this one mind-boggling situation.
Camara – or a different holding midfielder – was needed at Liverpool before the Premier League season and even more so now.
I can’t understand why Liverpool – if they had the money to sign Minteh or Sarr for over £60m – couldn’t sign Camara, particularly when it became clear that the Senegal international was made available by Monaco.
Hopefully he is brought to the club in January, but by then the chance of joining the title charge may already be over.
