A new update has now emerged regarding the future of a “really good” Liverpool player, with a foreign club keen on snapping him up this summer.
There is still over a month of the summer transfer window remaining, as the Reds eye further business, including the potential addition of the likes of Rodrygo and Marc Guehi.
There are also several Liverpool players who could leave, including Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, with some keen on moves away and others deemed surplus to requirements.
Now, Caught Offside claim that 2023/24 Europa League winners Atalanta are “showing a strong interest” in signing Chiesa on loan this summer, with a source in the report saying:
“Chiesa has not been included in Arne Slot’s pre-season training camp, a sign that Liverpool want to part ways with him as soon as possible. Atalanta are interested and are preparing to discuss an initial loan.”
Liverpool need permanent exit for Chiesa
It certainly feels as though Chiesa’s time at Liverpool is nearing its conclusion, but a permanent exit would be far more preferable for the Reds, allowing them to receive a hefty fee for him.
The Premier League champions have spent big on the likes of Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike this summer, and will hopefully continue to in the coming weeks, meaning funds have to be generated by selling some players.
It feels like the right time for Chiesa to move on from Liverpool after three years at Anfield, even though commentator Seb Hutchinson has called in a “top-level talent” and Arne Slot spoke positively about him last season:
“I saw some really good moments and I saw some moments where I felt like, ‘OK, you can do better than this’. For me, that’s completely normal if a player has been out for so long and plays his first game in five or six months.”
The fact that Chiesa isn’t in Asia as part of Liverpool’s pre-season speaks volumes, and it’s now of receiving as much money as possible for him. Frankly, he would be better off staying at Anfield and aiding Slot’s squad depth if only a loan exit is possible.
