Liverpool will hopefully make big progress in their efforts to sign Alexander Isak this week, with a new update from Fabrizio Romano acting as a boost for the Reds.

The Swede has now emerged as the Premier League champions’ latest dream addition, with the 25-year-old making it clear he wants to leave St James’ Park this summer.

Magpies manager Eddie Howe has now hinted that Isak wants a fresh challenge, too, having discussed his future over the weekend:

“He will be aware he is in the news every day and I’m sure that is not easy for anyone in that situation. Conversations that happen with Alex and the club, or Alex and myself, will stay private for obvious reasons,” Howe said.

“We do share a good relationship. He has been magnificent for us since he joined. He’s very popular in the dressing room. We would love him to continue his journey at Newcastle. Although, whatever happens has to be right for Newcastle.”

Now, Romano has taken to X to give a new Isak to Liverpool update, claiming that a move to the Saudi Pro League is off the cards, acting as a new boost for Arne Slot:

“Liverpool are prepared to go big for Alexander Isak after Luis Diaz sale done. Isak, keen on the move and not even in talks with Saudi clubs. Only Liverpool. Up to Newcastle now, with LFC waiting but ready to enter strong with record proposal.”

Will Isak join Liverpool this week?

This is another positive update for Liverpool supporters, who will no doubt be dreaming of the idea of Isak leading the line next season.

While Hugo Ekitike is a great signing in his own right, the Newcastle star is already a world-class striker and could instantly take the Reds up another level.

With Florian Wirtz also coming in as a game-changing addition in the No.10 role, this is a hugely exciting time to be a Liverpool fan, with Slot trying to create a generational team.

It’s now a case of making sure a deal for Isak is sorted as soon as possible, hoping that Newcastle don’t persuade him to stay at the same time.
