Rio Ngumoha’s emergence continues to gather momentum, and after his latest performance against Tottenham, Daniel Sturridge has made a bold claim about the youngster’s future.

Making his first Premier League start, the 17-year-old stood out in a Liverpool side that struggled to impress overall.

Despite the result, Ngumoha’s directness and confidence on the ball caught the attention of both fans and pundits. His willingness to take on defenders added a different dimension to Liverpool’s attack, something that has been lacking at times this season.

Sturridge, watching closely, believes the teenager could become a key figure sooner rather than later. The former Liverpool forward has long been an admirer of Ngumoha, but this display appeared to reinforce his belief that the winger is destined for something special.

Although still early in his development, Ngumoha’s fearless style has already made an impression.

He consistently looked to drive forward, forcing Tottenham onto the back foot and creating moments of danger. It’s this attacking mindset that has convinced many he could play a bigger role before the campaign ends.

There is, however, a sense of caution around how quickly he should be introduced into the starting lineup. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been careful with the youngster’s minutes, likely mindful of both his physical development and the pressure that comes with first-team football.

Even so, calls for increased involvement are growing louder. Ngumoha’s performance against Spurs only strengthened the argument that he offers something different to Liverpool’s more established attackers.

With inconsistency still an issue in the squad, giving opportunities to exciting young talent may be a risk worth taking.

For Sturridge, the trajectory feels clear. If Ngumoha continues on this path, he won’t just be a promising prospect—he could soon become a regular contributor at the highest level.
