Denzel Dumfries has gone through agent change again and again but the man now representing his affairs is none other than his father: Boris Dumfries.

Reports from Italy now claim that when Liverpool’s move to sign Dumfries in the January transfer window failed, his agents were discontented.

“Has Dumfries changed agent again? Not at all. As we’ve been writing for some time now here on Calciomercato.it, the Inter full-back’s true and only agent is his father, Boris,” the Italian outlet reports.

“He has been so since he broke up with Wasserman , with whom he also went to court. From that moment on, he took full control of his son’s power of attorney, relying on various intermediaries to place him elsewhere.

“Or rather, to try to fulfill his Premier League ‘dream’ : from Jorge Mendes to Ali Barat ‘s Epic , with the latter trying to place him in England as early as last January.

“Specifically, at Liverpool , but ultimately unsuccessfully, and that’s perhaps where Boris’s discontent arose.

“It must be said that the Italian De Fanti , equally strong in England, has also been gravitating around the Nerazzurri number 2 for some time, and it’s no longer a mystery. But let’s repeat: the real agent is none other than Boris, the father.”

Calciomercato state that there is “every chance” a move to Liverpool happens this summer. They report that his release clause is set at around €25m.

What’s the transfer latest on Liverpool and Dumfries?

Fabrizio Romano reported last week that Liverpool remain the likeliest team to sign Dumfries in the summer.

The defender reportedly has a release clause in his contract with Inter Milan that Liverpool could activate to solve their right-back problems from this season.

Romano said: “Denzel Dumfries is a hot topic for the summer, an issue that we need to keep monitoring. He has a release clause active in the summer, so that opens up the market potential. All the various opportunities are being explored for Dumfries. The release clause has a very limited timeframe.

“One team to keep an eye on Denzel Dumfries remains Liverpool. Liverpool already wanted him during the January transfer window. It wasn’t possible, partly because Dumfries was injured.

“Inter wouldn’t have agreed to a loan deal in January, which was perhaps the only reason why Liverpool could even consider that kind of move, but Inter immediately said no.

“Let’s see whether this summer Liverpool go back in for Dumfries. He’s certainly a player highly rated by the manager, Arne Slot. There’s a very good feeling there, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool will choose Dumfries as their main priority target or not.”

At 6 foot 2, Dumfries would add serious power to Liverpool’s backline while his attacking output is more than enough. Across the last two seasons, the Dutchman has 16 goals and seven assists.

Dumfries has two years remaining on his Inter contract, which expires on 30 June 2028. This means Inter have one more summer transfer window in which to extract a strong fee.

Should he stay until next summer, the Italians will need to accept a decrease in the potential transfer fee, especially given that he is now 30 years old, having turned 30 on 18 April.
